Unleash Goan football players for better results

It is really disappointing to see all our top Goan football clubs like Dempo, Salgaocar and Sporting Club de Goa currently languishing at the bottom of the table in the ongoing I- league tournament and even facing relegations for the very first time ever.  These same famous clubs used to once bring laurels for Goa in the past winning most major all-India tournaments like Durand, Rovers cup, Federation cup etc in great style and that too by unleashing only star Goan players.
Unfortunately, the same clubs are currently seen struggling to win even some simple important matches in the ongoing I-league tournament and that too, after hiring a number of expensive foreign, Nigerian and outstation players from here and there.  Now, under such circumstances, how can one ever expect to generate interest and to bring out football fans in large numbers in stadiums to watch the matches of such Goan clubs in future?  I remember these same clubs used to once give a lot of importance mostly for our Goan players to display their skills and even turn them into big national stars.
Hey, who can forget all the great star Goan players of the past like Domnic Soares, Francis D’Souza, Camilo Gonsalves, Derrick Pereira, Mauricio Alphonso, Bruno Coutinho, Roy Barretto, Alvito D’Cunha etc? Unfortunately, today we still have some great young Goan football players but they are always kept on the bench by all the top clubs in Goa for unknown reasons.  I think that the main reason for the disastrous performance of all our top Goan Football clubs in the ongoing I-league tournament is because instead of giving importance for our own Goan players, these clubs are seen wasting too much time hiring mostly  unfit foreign, Nigerian and some outstation players from around the country and expecting big miracles.  The officials should therefore see the writing clear on the wall and come in their senses at the very earliest.  Yes, if football is a passion and is in the blood of every Goan then let these clubs alone first prove this on the ground by unleashing only Goan football players on the pitch to tap new talent and to create new stars in Goa/India….
