In the article ‘Mother Teresa’s Legacy under cloud’ (Herald 4 September) one doctor Aroop has criticized Mothers’ work accusing her of conversions! The entire world now knows who Mother was and how she was an inspiration to others by teaching us the path of selfless service and compassion. Mother Teresa spoke openly against Abortion and this is the main reason some unscrupulous doctors like Aroop are misguiding and spreading false propaganda against the Missionaries of Charity.
Aroop and his likes are the main culprits supporting the evil called ‘pro-abortion ‘ and are running or covertly supporting abortion clinics and therefore running this murderous business on a massive Industrial scale ! If such doctors and so called volunteers were really concerned about sanitation within the Home for the Dying then what have they done about the lack of sanitation in their city’s filthy streets and gutters from where Mother Teresa picked up the dying and unwanted and uncared persons who were left to die. Mother helped these abandoned people who nobody looked at or cared for to die with dignity -she rightly called them ‘Children of God’. She faced plenty of hardships and trials when she first started her home for the dying at Kalighat but surprisingly the main person who opposed her experienced a ‘self-conversion’ when finally he himself contracted a deadly disease and only Mother personally treated and took him into his care.
One patient at her home for the dying said,” I have lived like an animal in the street but I am going to die like an angel, loved and cared for !” Doctor Aroop instead of serving his own countryman has migrated to a foreign country and from there he has criticized her works , while Mother left everything to follow God and serve the poorest of the poor from the streets and slums of our country. Even in her lifetime she was already considered a saint and even the President of India Pranab Mukherjee, on the occasion of her Sainthood has said that every Indian will take pride in Mothers Canonisation. She is an inspiration for all and should be declared as the ‘Mother of the Nation.’
