As if it were not enough that the deadly Covid-19 pandemic crippled normal life and impacted business for 2 years and just as the world got out of the stranglehold of the novel corona virus, the geo-political tumult hit the entire world in the form of the Russia Ukraine war. Added to this everything from the prices of food to other necessities have shot up amid high inflation and scarce availability of commodities. The cost of living has gone up and the world is still in the grip of tight money emergency that has led to almost all people around the world finding it difficult to balance their expenditure. Thus diplomacy to end the conflict is the best way to go about resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Almost one year and five months have passed but the conflict shows no signs of abating with the result that taking sides has made it difficult due to the imposition of sanctions and counter sanctions thus making the world economy more and more difficult to juggle. Tensions have flared up to such an extent that all the spheres of human endeavour have been affected adversely. While hostilities continue it is thus imperative that diplomatic means should be pursued with vigour so that tensions are reduced and the world begins to limp back to a semblance of normalcy.
Although still distinct polarization having not taken place, it should be the bounden duty of the warring factions to try as much as possible to settle the conflict in a fair and equitable manner so that heightened stress does not impact the slow and painful journey to some sort of detente. It should be agreed without doubt that in a conflict like this, both the warring factions stand to lose and thus resolving it even with difficult decisions have to be taken which would be the best way forward. Both the sides will stand to incur heavy losses if the conflict continues and thus tough but lasting solution to end the conflict should be initiated by diplomats around the world to prevent the escalation of conflict.
The main area of concern is the resolution of the disputed areas which will have to be resolved as the cornerstone for a long and lasting peace. It is a well-known fact that this conflict has had wide ranging repercussions throughout the world unlike other smaller issues. It should be stressed that influential countries have to lobby for diplomatic solutions to the conflict by using their clout in order to seek cessation of hostilities. It has to be borne in mind that should the borders of conflict extend then the situation could go out of control and may lead to a global conflict akin to Armageddon that will have very serious consequences.
Under no circumstances should the use of nuclear weapons be allowed because a nuclear conflict will go out of control and annihilate the entire civilization. There has been too much of good work that mankind has done to allow it all to go up in smoke and thus prudence and wisdom should be the motive. Influential countries and their diplomats should work ceaselessly to thrash out meaningful ways to respect sovereignty as well as use restraint to reduce tensions and bring about an end to the war. Leaders and diplomats of influential countries should make it their pledge to work for equitable and fair resolution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict .
