Himachal Pradesh MP Viplove Thakur’s fiery speech in Parliament merits a place right at top in recent times on the floor of the House.
Very rightly has she exposed the bankruptcy of the relentless campaign since years going by the coinage “Nothing Happened in last six decades” when the fact remains that right from major dams and hydro-electric projects to steel plants and other industries, extensive railway infrastructure to reputed educational and medical institutions to IT sector — the whole infrastructure of the society has been set up by the preceding Cong Govts led by the much-maligned Nehru-Gandhi family or PV Narasimha Rao-Manmohan Singh! In contrast the regime of “Good Days”, far from coming up with not a single constructive project to mention of, instead have devastated the carefully nurtured Banking system, BSNL, Airlines with the health of Indian Railways also lying in tatters!
When the policies of earlier regimes centred around job generation, that of the present regime are hell-bent on shrinking job opportunities resulting in achieving a record of joblessness around the country! And the last nail got struck in the coffin of jobs through the “historic bold” demonetisation robbing the livelihood of millions of wage earners! Rightly has Thakur stated that the only “contribution” of the harbingers of “New India” is to divide the nation through communal polarisation hatred and violence with the religious minorities and Dalits being the most victimised persecuted lot.
Thakur has also rightly dwelt on the “culture” of intolerance pursued by the saffronites whereby any criticism against their antics and policies tantamount to “treason” with the “offenders” not only promptly tarnished as “anti-nationals” but also made to face the music through instruments of State power. What a fatal assault on the Constitutional guarantee of freedom of speech and expression!
Far from acknowledging its failures on all front possible, far from showing honesty enough to challenge the critics through furnishing of facts and figures in a sane fashion; the only ear-shattering “defence” they can provide is “Pakistan” “Pakistan” and “Pakistan” as if this very country is solely responsible for all ills of India! So Pakistan-bashing is being shamelessly parroted to cater to the lowest common denominator! As far as playing to the gallery is concerned; the self-declared “nationalists” simply have no peers and in this particular front, indeed they can beat the “family party” of “mother-son” absolutely hands down!
No kudos is enough for Thakur for strongly advocating the rights of Indians upon the soil of India irrespective of religion or race whose sheer presence for ages bear testimony to their credentials as citizens of this land and this eternal truth can never be challenged by possession or absence of “mere” papers or documents! Instead of projecting the “aliens” as the major reason behind the “problems plaguing India” and squandering precious resources time and energy in “identifying” and deporting them (and also certifying many innocent Indians as “foreigners” as alleged to have happened in Assam NRC!), the Who’s Who of Central dispensation should better concentrate in ensuring welfare to all sections of the society.
