WHO IS REPONSIBLE FOR THE KOLKATA TRAGEDY?

In an extremely tragic incident of accident on Thursday, the 31st March 2016, an under construction flyover bridge, being constructed in Kolkata by the Hyderabad-based IVRCL company,

which is nearing completion in a haste as ordered by the TMC government before the start of State assembly elections has collapsed killing 21 people, injuring 25 and damaging/crushing number of vehicles under the debris.
The two km long Vivekananda road flyover is situated in a densely populated locality in Barra Bazar near the Ganesh talkies, Girish Park which is the busiest area at all the times. When the project of construction of flyover at the cost of Rs164 crore was initiated in 2007 during the rule of CPM govt., its design was objected by many locals as some stretches of the flyover crossed dangerously very close to multi-stories buildings, flanking on both sides of the existing road stretch. Also, it is alleged that the construction work lacked proper supervision and inspection from time to time and there is every doubt of certain element regarding usage of substandard building materials for construction work.
The blame game is now going on, pushing the responsibilities of collapse of flyover on each other by the incumbent TMC government and the past CPM govt. officials. Regretfully, it is pointed out here that, such cave in of bridges, buildings & other project construction works happens/takes place, not only in Kolkata alone; but in many Indian states intermittently only because of  rampant corruption in the government, favoring the particular contractors of the former’s choices in ‘Quid pro quo’ . Moreover, the favored contractor uses substandard and cheap building materials that causes collapse of the construction works.
It is therefore required in this case of cave in of Kolkata flyover, a thorough enquiry be ordered into and culprits be brought to the books to award them severest punishment to deter others from playing with lives of innocent people. RIP for the departed souls and a sincere prayer to God for early recovery/recuperation of those injured in the tragic accident.”
