Why such a hurry over Mopa?

By hook or by crook Mr Parrikar our beloved CM wants to go ahead with the construction of the new airport at Mopa, come what may, bypassing all the norms and regulations specially EIA and feasibility studies.
When Dabolim was the only airport all Goans were happy and none raised a hue and cry as it was equidistant to both North and South Goa. Now with the idea of having another at Mopa the very united people of Goa are a divided lot. North wants Mopa to come up but South wants to retain Dabolim as the only airport. In this fight who are the beneficiaries? Obviously the land sharks and their chamchas who have bought large chunks of land surrounding the proposed airport at throw away price depriving the needy farmers of their “rozgar” just to satiate the hungry wolves and their cronies.
I feel this is the most important reason why our beloved CM wants to act in a hurry. This is his egoist attitude, thereby silencing the voice of the very people who have given him a landslide victory in the last election. Hence he acts like a supremo and all his altar boys having to meekly follow his diktat.
We Goans are such a peace-loving people living in perfect harmony with different communities for the last 5 centuries, but now these controversies have cropped up only to destroy our secular fabric and peaceful co-existence. I agree in some foreign countries there may be 8 to 10 airports within a radius of 10 kms. This is because they commute by air from one place to another because they can afford it and time is money for them. It is akin to us Indians travelling by bus or train due to our weak economy and financial position and relaxed life.
Secondly, dishing out of doles as per their whims and fancies.”Whose father’s what goes?”, anybody maybe saying so but really speaking something of everybody’s father goes in the form of taxes we pay. Did any housewife ask for Rs 1000 monthly just for sitting and being a idle housewife? Give to those who are genuinely in dire need of the financial assistance eg. the physically, mentally challenged ones and those who sustain their lives on regular dialysis. These are the people whom the government should care.
