Wooing for election

As Goa gears up to vote, every party is garnering the voters with sweet and tall talks. We have had an adequate amount of pledges that were never kept, so much so, that one tends to say, ‘Enough is enough’. We can’t take it anymore and we refuse to be inveigled by the corrupt politicians. We, as prudent people, should be persuaded to follow the following rules for voting.
Most of the voters vote for a certain person just because he has been voted for, as a family friend or party over the generations. Being in close contact with these people tempts the voter  to take advantage of the influence to get jobs that one finds hard to get done on his own – be it due time, methodological or  procedural constraints. Actually about 80 percent of us like to have a close contact in the political hierarchy, so that we could flout our influence and get illegal matters regularized or attended to at the snap of a finger. Getting rescued at times of crisis like during alterations with another party, traffic violations, and regularisations of RTO related papers, ration card, voter’s card, job appointments are other such similar matters. It makes one feel relatively significant if you have an influential contact.
We vote for X or Y as there is no choice of selection. The result is that the worthless candidate tends to gain by a dead vote as his percentage gain increases.
One should not vote with the intention of reaping some benefit by his cast of vote. Cut corruption and everything will fall in the right place. With RTI, spy cameras etc it easy to nail these parasites. Getting the requisite punishment is another matter. At least, we can nail these shameless deceitful officials.
Voters think well before you cast your precious vote. Corrupt people elect corrupt representatives and the circle gets bigger day by day. Don’t ask for favours from your ministers. Instead demand your equitable constitutional rights. Hence instead of saying, ‘What has the Government done for me’ say rightfully and boldly, what we have done for the government. Participate and be involved in the system improvement with suggestions and ideas.  Study your candidate’s past history and vote rightfully with your ethical conscience and not your unappeasable desires.
