The Defence minister’s rhetoric that two Congress ex-ministers are involved in the Louis Berger bribe scandal and endorsement of the chief minister’s stance for a CBI probe is nothing but another instance of political hubris. The BJP came to power by exposing the Congress corruption but till date, even after a period of three years in office, the BJP government has not succeeded in filing even a charge sheet against those who have looted the State. If Louis Berger committed a crime how is it that the BJP is using the same agency for a study on Mopa airport?
The Defence Minister’s outburst against the use of so called RBI Panchanama by the Congress to highlight the failures of the BJP rule and asking the Congress president for an open debate on the subject should also be viewed with the same lens.
The BJP squandered tax-payers money to give doles to people who were affected by illegal mining who had made merry when the going was good. By giving unwarranted doles for political gains, the economy of the State suffered which attracted the RBI wrath and gave the Congress an opportunity to fire back.
Today, out of power the Congress leadership in the State also uses the same cannons which BJP used to expose corruption then, though they have no moral right to protect and keep mum about their own men who robbed the State.
As long as the party in power takes no steps to improve governance to stop corruption and punish those involved in swindling the public exchequer, the aam aadmi has to believe the opposition voice.
