he electorate of Delhi have given a resounding victory to Aam Aadmi Party in general and Arvind Kejriwal-ji in particular to form the government for the third successive time! Delhi 2020 election will go down in history as people’s victory.
People of India have seen and witnessed a vicious, poisonous and divisive election campaign from BJP since 2002 Gujarat Assembly elections.
It was a wise decision on the part of the Delhiites for not allowing a repeat of Gujarat 2002 act in Delhi but for preferring to choose performance over polarisation.
For the first time in India, a party fought the election on the issues of education, healthcare, electricity and water. These issues became the focal points during the electoral battle. We must compliment the people of Delhi for having preferred to vote for sincere ‘Kaam ki Baat:’ rather than polluted ‘Mann ki Baat’.
AAP Government has offered free electricity, free water, free transport for women, doorstep delivery services, CCTV cameras and many more other facilities. All these people oriented decisions by Arvind Kejriwal have paid huge dividends. By making transport free, women have now stepped out of their homes in large numbers, thus increasing their mobility. Delhi city’s workforce comprised of only 11% women which was extremely low. In 2015, McKinsey global study had stated that India could increase its GDP by 16-60% by 2025 if it could enable its women to participate in the economy.
There are many individuals who come up with life changing ideas, but only few manage to go against all odds to make their ideas turn into reality. Arvind Kejriwal is one amongst them. He wants the AAP government to make Delhi a world class city and it is not just a dream but will soon turn into a reality.
For the first time in India, we see that people from across the globe as well as the world leaders have come to study the models of Mohala clinics of Delhi and visit government schools. On the other hand, we often see that our ministers go on study tours to foreign countries but return with empty hands and minds. Such ministers have nothing to offer because they are bereft of any ideas. It is a holiday tour for them.
The former Congress PM Rajiv Gandhi once remarked that out of Rs 100, Rs 85 leaks into corruption and only Rs 15 is utilised for the welfare of the public. Most of the governments divert nearly 85% of the tax payers’ money into their pockets through various fictitious projects. Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP government has utilised the full amount on building schools, hospitals, sewer systems, water pipelines and roads and with the balance amount, they have provided power, water, health care and transport free of cost.
Delhi Government is the only State government that has maintained surplus revenue despite drop in grant from the Central Government according to a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and therefore AAP government was in a position to give best of services to its citizens. However, we all know that the debt of our Government of Goa is increasing year by year. Will Goans realise that we need to elect a government of the people, by the people and for the people?
The Aam Aadmi Party has the ability to change the face of our nation and make our country great and vibrant.
Hope we find more leaders like Arvind Kejriwal who have vision and the ability to fulfill the aspirations of the people.
