Kamareddy, Telangana: A tragic accident claimed the life of a Class 8 student in Kamareddy district on Thursday after she slipped and fell from an autorickshaw while transporting chairs for a school event.
The victim, identified as Sangeetha, was a student at a government-run residential Gurukul School in Banswada mandal, which primarily serves children from the Scheduled Caste community. Reports indicate that the school staff had tasked students with transporting chairs for a Republic Day function—a direct violation of child labour and safety norms.

Visuals from the incident show that Sangeetha was the fourth child seen either jumping out or falling off the moving autorickshaw. Witnesses said the vehicle did not stop and disappeared after taking a turn.
Sangeetha was immediately taken to a hospital in Banswada but was declared dead upon arrival. Doctors reported that she suffered severe bleeding from her ears and multiple injuries to her face and hands. “She wasn’t breathing and had no cardiac activity,” said an on-duty doctor.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The school and the autorickshaw driver’s role in violating safety protocols are under scrutiny.
This tragic incident has raised concerns over child safety and the enforcement of labour laws in schools, especially during preparation for public events.
