IMD Issues Yellow Alert for Delhi as Western Disturbance Brings Rain, Thunderstorms

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Thursday as an active western disturbance sweeps across the region, bringing much-needed rainfall and gusty winds to the National Capital Region (NCR). The shift in weather comes a day after the city recorded its warmest January day in the last seven years.

Residents woke up to overcast skies, with parts of the capital witnessing light rain during the early hours. According to the IMD, intermittent spells of rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue throughout the day, with peak intensity expected during the forenoon.

The weather department has further indicated that similar conditions may persist through Friday, offering relief from the unseasonably warm temperatures while also improving air quality in the region. Citizens have been advised to stay alert to changing weather conditions, especially during periods of gusty winds and thunderstorms.
