A spirit of joy and gratitude filled Holy Spirit Church as six diocesan priests of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman celebrated the golden jubilee of their priestly ordination on April 30. The solemn Eucharistic celebration marked 50 years of dedicated service to the Church and the community.
The jubilarians—Fr. Walter de Sá, Fr. Lino de Sá, Fr. Gualberto de Souza, Fr. Diogo M. Fernandes, Fr. Albino Mendonça, and Fr. Agnelo Quadros—offered heartfelt thanksgiving, reflecting on their journey of faith and ministry since their ordination in 1976. The occasion also paid tribute to their three deceased companions, remembered with reverence during the ceremony.

The Mass was presided over by Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão, while Bishop Simião Fernandes delivered the homily. Emphasising the essence of priesthood, Bishop Fernandes described it through the acronym “GOLD”—a Gift of grace, an Offering of life, rooted in Love, and sustained by Dedication. He commended the priests for their unwavering commitment and pastoral zeal over five decades.
Cardinal Ferrão extended his congratulations and acknowledged the crucial role of families in nurturing vocations. He highlighted how their support forms the foundation of a priest’s spiritual journey.
The liturgy was enriched by Fr. Romano Rodrigues as commentator and Seby Fernandes, who led the choir. Fr. Walter de Sá delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the jubilarians.
The celebration concluded on a note of deep thanksgiving, honouring six lives devoted to service, faith, and the enduring mission of Christ in Goa.
