Retired NASA astronaut Sunita Williams admitted she will feel a touch of FOMO as humanity returns to the Moon under NASA’s Artemis programme, even as she embraces life back on Earth. Speaking at the opening evening of the Kerala Literature Festival on Thursday, Williams reflected on her 27-year space career, the awe of seeing Earth from orbit and the simple joys she missed in space.
NASA is set to launch Artemis II, its first crewed Moon mission since 1972, in 2026. “Who doesn’t want to go to the Moon?” Williams said, adding that while she will miss being part of it, she is excited to see her colleagues take the leap.
Williams, who logged 608 days in space, said she now plans to explore Earth, calling Kerala one of the places on her list.
