The meeting, held at Seva Teerth in the national capital, lasted for around 25 minutes and has sparked fresh political discussions over the changing dynamics between the Centre and Tamil Nadu’s new leadership. This was reportedly the first known meeting between Vijay and Modi in nearly 12 years.

During the interaction, Vijay submitted a detailed petition highlighting several key concerns related to Tamil Nadu. Among the major issues raised was the ongoing Vande Mataram controversy, which has triggered political debate in the state in recent weeks.
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister also discussed the long-pending Mekedatu project dispute involving Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The proposed dam project has remained a contentious issue due to concerns over water sharing and its possible impact on Tamil Nadu’s water supply.
Apart from this, Vijay reportedly sought greater attention towards defence-related projects in Tamil Nadu and highlighted concerns over repeated arrests of Tamil Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy. The fishermen issue continues to remain a sensitive political and humanitarian matter in the coastal state.
The meeting is being viewed as politically important as Vijay, who recently entered mainstream politics after years of speculation, continues to shape his government’s engagement with the Centre.
