The United States has issued a worldwide security advisory for its citizens, warning that escalating tensions in the Middle East could lead to unexpected security risks, travel disruptions and potential threats to American interests abroad.
In an advisory published on its official travel portal on Wednesday, the US State Department said the security situation in the region remains volatile and could deteriorate further.

“Due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, the security environment remains complex with the potential for unforeseen escalation,” the advisory stated.
The department urged American citizens across the globe to exercise increased caution, particularly those currently in the Middle East, where they were advised to remain vigilant and prepare for possible disruptions.
According to the advisory, travellers should be ready for flight cancellations, periodic airspace closures and other travel-related challenges as airlines continue to adjust their operations in response to the evolving security situation.
The State Department noted that while some airlines have delayed the resumption of previously suspended services, others have cancelled routes altogether due to the uncertainty in the region.
In a separate post on X, the department cautioned that Iran and groups aligned with Tehran could target US interests overseas.
“Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions,” the department said.
The advisory comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, with US authorities urging citizens to closely monitor official travel updates and follow the guidance of local authorities while travelling abroad.
