US Launches Massive Airstrikes on Iranian Targets Near Strait of Hormuz Amid Rising Middle East Tensions

The United States has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes against Iranian military targets near the Strait of Hormuz, with the operation reportedly being significantly larger than previous attacks carried out ten days earlier.

According to an Axios report, a US official described the latest strikes as “four or five times bigger in scope and power” than the earlier operation. The strikes were launched in response to renewed Iranian attacks on commercial vessels transiting the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz.

The official further indicated that the military operation could continue for several more hours, even as millions of Iranians gathered for the funeral of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

In a parallel move aimed at increasing economic pressure on Tehran, the United States revoked a temporary sanctions waiver for Iranian oil after three commercial tankers were reportedly struck in the key shipping corridor.

The latest developments come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, as Washington and Tehran continue negotiations aimed at ending the ongoing regional conflict.
