BICHOLIM: The Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar on Saturday said that his department has installed 1.84 lakh LED streetlights in the State and another 20,000 lights would be installed in next two months.
The minister made the disclosure during a visit to Sanquelim to understand the electricity problems faced of the panchayats in the constituency.
During a discussion that Madkaikar had with the panchayat members, the village representatives complained to the minister that their respective villages were without streetlight, needed new transformers and power lines needed replacement.
The minister assured that most of their problems would be solved. “Till the time we get a proper agency to monitor and repair the LED streetlights, the electricity staff will be deployed to repair the same,” Madkaikar said.
