1 arrested for raping minor on Chogm road

PORVORIM: Porvorim Police arrested a 20-year-old college student Umar Shaikh for allegedly raping a minor in an open space behind a gym on Chogm Road, Porvorim.
Porvorim Police Station PI Vishwesh Karpe informed Herald that the accused was arrested following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother on Friday evening. 
“The accused had raped the minor on three occasions and threatened her with dire consequences. The victim’s mother later filed the complaint at Porvorim Police Station,” Karpe added.
Porvorim police registered an offence under Sections 376 (Rape), 427 (Causing Damage), 506 (Criminal Intimidation) of Indian Penal Code and Section 8 (2) of Goa Children’s Act and Section 4 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The accused has been remanded to four days police custody.
 by the local court.
The case is further investigated by LPSI Smita Morajkar under the supervision of PI Karpe. 
The accused allegedly had forceful sexual intercourse with the 16-year-old girl and damaged her mobile phone. It is learnt that she was earlier raped in September and October last year and was threatened with dire consequences that if she discloses the fact about her relationship to anyone.
