CANACONA: Maharashtra Police on Monday arrested Rawanwadi-Gondia native -Pradeep Patel from Colsor, Poinguinim for posting obscene photos of a girl on social media.
Based on the location of Patel’s mobile phone, the Maharashtra police arrested the 24-year-old accused with the help of Canacona Police.
“A police team from Rawanwadi Police Station led by an Assistant PI with the help of Canacona Police arrested Pradeep Patel from Colsor, Poinguinim on Monday and took him to Rawanwadi on Monday,” a police official said.
Temporarily residing in Canacona, Patel is accused of posting obscene photographs of a girl from Gondia on social media.
Earlier, the girl’s family had filed a police complaint at Rawanwadi Police Station stating Patel has posted some obscene photographs of the victim.
Acting upon the complaint, the Rawanwadi Police had registered an offence against Patel under Sections 354 (C), 354 (D), 417 and 506 of IPC read with 66 (E) and 67 (A) of IT Act 2000.
Canacona Police sources said that based on the information provided by their Maharashtra counterparts and the mobile phone location, the accused was apprehended from Colsor where he was employed as a labourer. He was later produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class, who issued a transit warrant, sources said.
The Maharashtra police will take the accused to Rawanwadi Police Station and produce him in a local court for remand, sources said.
