PANJIM: Panjim police arrested a 24-year-old for allegedly trafficking girls for prostitution in a raid near a hotel at Dona Paula late Wednesday night. Panjim PI Siddhant Shirodkar said that Pintu Nayak, a native of Bijapur-Karnataka and temporarily residing at Candolim, and Ankush, who is presently at large, have been charged with procuring girls from other states and supplying to prospective customers for prostitution.
“Nayak was caught red-handed for the illicit activity and accordingly, he was arrested. He is currently undergoing custodial interrogation,” the officer said. The raid also led to the rescue of a victim girl who was thereafter lodged at Protective Home, Merces. A case under relevant sections of Indian Penal Code and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act is registered against the two men.
