In tragic incident a differently-abled man was killed and several others injured after a bike ran over the victims who were sleeping on a pavement along a busy road in this district in the wee hours on Saturday.
The shocking incident occurred at Jonakapuram were the condition of two of the injured is said to be critical. The deceased person was identified as Arumugham (60), hailing from neighbouring Tamil Nadu.
However, according to the information provided it is said that one person was killed and nine sustained serious injuries after a bike ran over them. The incident happened at Jonakappuram in Kollam. The dead is Parasuraman (60), a differently abled man and a native of Kodamangalam in Tamil Nadu. The condition of two injured is serious. The accused bike rider may have been drunk, said officials.
The police have taken the accused biker rider into custody who is been identified as Sibin of Pallithottam. The bike ran over those sleeping on the harbour road. The people injured are natives of Kodamangalam. The bike ran over Parasuraman’s head which led to his death. The two seriously injured are in the ICU. The biker rider also sustained injuries.
Investigation is underway in this case, said officials.
