10 day old baby girl found abandoned at Miramar

A 10-day-old baby girl was found abandoned near the Manohar Parrikar Smarak in Miramar. Passersby alerted authorities upon hearing the infant’s cries, prompting an immediate response from the Panjim police.


Responding swiftly to the call, police arrived at the scene and discovered the newborn in a box, left amidst garbage. Acting promptly, they rushed the baby to the Goa Medical College, Bambolim, for urgent medical attention and care.

Sources close to the investigation disclosed that the baby was left unattended in the box, raising questions about the circumstances leading to this heartrending abandonment.

Over the course of the last five years, Goa has witnessed 11 distressing instances of newborn babies being abandoned, with a staggering seven of these cases involving baby girls. Tragically, in three of these h incidents, the infants met dire consequences due to the unsafe circumstances of their abandonment, including incidents involving dog bites and being left in perilous garbage sites.
