PANJIM: The Goa government on Friday notified the formation of a 10-member committee chaired by GCZMA chairperson to study the objections raised with regards to construction of the balance stretch of the National Highway Western Bypass Road – the Benaulim-Seraulim stretch by the villagers
The committee has been formed in compliance with the National Green Tribunal (NGT) directions issued on June 22 this year. Besides GCZMA chairperson, the other members of the committee are South Goa District Magistrate, member secretary of Goa- SEIAA, member secretary of Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB), Goa State Wetland Authority (GSWA) member Manguesh Prabhugaonkar, PWD principal chief engineer, WRD chief engineer, National Wetland Authority nominee, PCCF member Saurabh Kumar and GSPCB senior environment engineer Sanjeev Joglekar, who will be the member convenor/nodal person

“The committee may also undertake visit to the site as early as possible. An action taken report may be filed within three months by e-mail at [email protected] preferably in the form of searchable PDF/OCR support PDF and not in the form of Image PDF,” the NGT order had stated.
Following this, a joint inspection off the site was carried out and the report was submitted to the water resources department (WRD) for appropriate decision.
