PANJIM: The High Court of Bombay at Goa will on September 15 hear the disqualification petition against 10 legislators who defected from Congress to BJP.
GPCC President Girish Chodankar, who is the petitioner, told media on Saturday that he “hopes” the court will give its verdict before the end of term of these MLAs.
Congress has challenged the order of Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar dismissing the disqualification petition against 10 Congress MLAs who joined BJP two years back.
The Congress has made it clear that it permanently shut its doors to MLAs who jumped ship after winning the 2017 Assembly elections on a Congress ticket.
Twelve MLAs — 10 from Congress and two from Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) — joined the BJP in 2019.
