MARGAO: Maina Curtorim Police have registered a case against unknown persons for stealing mobile phones from the packages delivered through Amazon.com following a complaint lodged by Mallikarju B the authorized representative of Amazon Transportation Services Pvt Ltd at Verna Industrial Estate.
As per the complaint 10 mobiles went missing from their packets from March to June this year causing a loss of around Rs 1.15 lakh to the company as it had to refund the customer the amount paid for the mobile which was not there in the package delivered.
The complainant stated that the person who tampered with the packages was affiliated to the Amazon company and further said that the mobiles were to be delivered to different places in Goa like Vasco, Ponda and Margao.
While in eight cases there was only an empty box in the package and the mobile was missing, in two cases the package was obviously tampered with and contents were missing. PSI Edwin Dias is investigating the matter.
