MARGAO: A 10-year-old girl tragically lost her life after being run over by a minibus in Pajifond, Margao, on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred when the girl went to rescue her two-year-old brother who was playing on the road. The brother suffered minor injuries and escaped the accident. Margao police will register an offence under Sections 279 and 304A of the IPC. The minibus has been removed from the accident site after the panchanama.
Another three-year-old child playing with her brother on the main road also survived the accident. However, brave heart Amanakhatun Ansari succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the South Goa District Hospital in Margao.
Police have obtained statements from the family members and are conducting further investigations. The child’s body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital.
