MAPUSA, APRIL 1 The NDPS Court at Mapusa has sentenced a 35-year-old man from Himachal Pradesh to a 10-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh for possessing 1.125 kgs of charas.

The NDPS Court at Mapusa has sentenced a 35-year-old man from Himachal Pradesh to a 10-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh for possessing 1.125 kgs of charas.
According to reports, Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) Incharge PI Ashish Shirodkar had conducted a raid at the Arpora market junction on February 2, 2008 at about 9 am and had nabbed Nandalal Shyamdas possessing 1.125 kgs of charas to be sold to prospective customers.
Five ANC sleuths in plainclothes along with two independent witnesses waited in different groups at Arpora, when they nabbed Shyamdas.
During the trial, the prosecution examined the chemical analyzer and seven witnesses in support of its case. Public Prosecutor Shiral Monteiro represented the State, while the accused was represented by his counsel under legal aid.
