PANJIM: A 100 per cent voting by MLAs was recorded in the State for the presidential election on Monday.
Goa was among 11 States and Union Territory of Puducherry that recorded a turnout of 100 per cent.
The voting was held in the Goa Assembly Complex, Porvorim. Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, who had attended the training conducted by the BJP at New Delhi about the process to be followed for the Presidential poll was the first MLA to cast his vote when the polling started at 10 am. By 1 pm, as many as 35 MLAs had cast their votes while Calangute MLA Michael Lobo was the last legislator to vote at 1.50 pm, according to Secretary (Legislature) and returning officer Namrata Ulman.
Unique serial numbered pens of violet ink supplied by the Election Commission of India were used so as to ensure that no other instrument is used by the voter for marking of preference of vote.
The ballot box was later sealed in the presence of Election Observer Ashish Kumar, officers of State Election Office, Altinho and authorised representatives of the contesting candidates and was made ready for transportation to the Parliament House, New Delhi.
