100-Year-Old Procession Celebrating Mother Mary at Telaulim, Navelim

Panjim: In one of Goa’s most enduring traditions, the procession honoring Mother Mary at Telaulim in Navelim, which began a century ago, will take place on the 6th of November, Monday. The procession will lead to the Our Lady of Rosary Church in Navelim, where the first Novena Mass will be held.

This significant event has evolved over the years. Initially, the procession featured Our Lady of Carmel, which arrived from Portugal. However, in 1949, it was decided to replace it with Our Lady of Fatima. Since then, the statue of Our Lady of Fatima has been an integral part of the procession. The humble lines of devotees holding candles have now grown to include thousands of participants, making it a remarkable expression of faith and devotion.

The tradition continues to be a testament to the enduring faith and commitment of the local community, marking an important milestone in the religious calendar of Goa.
