MARGAO: Stating that several public appointments were pending due to COVID pandemic, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Wednesday informed that nearly 1500 jobs have been advertised till date and 10,000 jobs would be advertised soon.

He was speaking during a direct public interaction at the South Goa District BJP office.

“There were many public appointments that were pending due to COVID. Almost 1500 jobs have been advertised till date and all 10,000 jobs will be advertised soon. Jobs will be surely given based on interviews” Sawant said adding that ‘due to code of conduct many jobs couldn’t be advertised but will be subsequently publicised.’

The Chief Minister said, “Though this was an exercise to meet and understand the grievances of public, most people ended up asking favours for government jobs.”

Sawant along with his OSD and officials noted down various grievances of people and assured to solve them.

The people said getting a government job was their biggest grievance for which they were forced to make beelines.

Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa met the Chief Minister with a complaint with regards to the water body in his constituency notified as a wetland.

The Chief Minister said “The declaration of wetlands was on the basis of NGT case and informed that an affidavit has been filed. The State government will survey on their level and finalise the wetlands.”

Sawant said, “The work of BJP workers and government has reached the lowest strata of the society and surely the BJP will win the ensuing elections.”

Refusing to comment on the petition in High Court against reservation and delimitation, he said the matter is sub judice.
