Chief guest Tarun Tejpal lauds Francis de Tuem for bring about social awareness on various issues through his tiatr

MARGAO: The 100th performance of Francis de Tuem’s most talked-about tiatr ‘Reporter’ was staged today at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, to full capacity.
Speaking on the occasion of the centenary celebration, the chief reporter of AjTak, Tarun Tejpal, who was the chief guest, lauded the efforts put in by Francis de Tuem to bring about social awareness on various issues related to politics and the media.
He expressed surprise at the full attendance of the audience for such local theatre performances and entertainment in Goa. “Perhaps it would benefit the larger audience in Mumbai and Delhi if this tiatr was staged in those states too,” he added.
Expressing satisfaction over the 100th performance, one of the lead artistes, Aplon, who played the role of the minister, said that ‘Reporter’ could reach the 100-mark only due to the team effort of all the artistes, right from stage manager to artistes and the musicians. “Each of the artistes had specific roles which suited them best and all the tiatrists gave their best of performance on stage,” she added.
Comedian Anita, who played the double role in tiatr ‘Reporter’ said that she was overwhelmed to note that this tiatr was completing 100 performances and that too houseful till the end. She said that several directors have reached the century-mark in the past, but it had never been to full capacity.
This comedienne revealed that the director staged only 30 to 32 shows in the villages, but more than 50 performances were booked in the cities and they were always packed beyond capacity.
With regards to performance in this hit tiatr, Anita said that it was fun working with the amateurs rather than with the professionals as quite often the professional comedians fail to maintain limits with their comedy. She hoped to act only with the amateur artistes in the near future for better performance and audience appeal.
