PANJIM: As many as 1052 newborn babies have got Aadhar card, with State achieving centum enrollment of its residents with unique identification number (UIN). Besides, nearly 126 permanent inmates of the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) have also been enrolled with Aadhar.
As per the information provided by the Economic Survey 2016-17, as on March 15, the status of Aadhar card generation in the State is 100.06 percent with total 15,15,092 residents have their Aadhar generated.
The coverage of adult population- 18 years and above- has been 105.88 percent (11,37,956). The coverage between the age group of 5 years to 18 years is 91.15 percent (2,96,944) and it is 62.91 percent in the age group of 0-5 years (1,06,986).
“The new born child enrollment in the hospitals commenced from November 3, 2016 and 1052 babies have been enrolled till March 3,” the report stated.
The Goa Electronic Limited (GEL) is currently been assigned the task of enrolling new born babies in five major government hospitals- Goa medical college and hospital (GMC), Cottage hospital at Chicalim, Hospiscio in Margao, district hospital Mapusa and sub-district hospital at Ponda, where nearly 80 percent of deliveries in the State take place.
GEL is provided with special child enrollment tablets (TABs) and fingerprint scanners.
Further, 329 bed ridden residents, have been enrolled at their residence by GEL.
The Government has now decided to further strengthen the Aadhar enrollment centers by setting up new centres through educational institutions all over the State for enrollment of left out student community and their parents.
