PANJIM: With an eye on the Goa Assembly polls 2022, the Dr Pramod Sawant government on Friday announced that it would fill 10,000 vacancies in various departments in the next six months.
In a virtual address to the people of Goa on the occasion of 75th Goa Revolution Day, the Chief Minister announced that the process has been initiated to fill nearly 10,000 vacancies in government departments in the next six months.
“We have already issued advertisements to a few posts while more are in process. The entire recruitment process, including examinations and appointments, will be completed within the next six months,” Sawant said.
Sawant, while presenting the State Budget 2021-22 had announced that 11,000 vacancies in various government departments would be filled during the financial year.
The vacancies will be in government departments, grant-in-aid institutions, autonomous bodies, corporations and public sector undertakings etc.
More than 1500 jobs have already been advertised by the government over the last few months in various departments including Health, Police, Accounts, etc.
The general elections to the Goa Legislative Assembly are due in February 2022. The Chief Minister has already ruled out the possibility of early polls, while maintaining that his government will complete the full term.
The ban on mass recruitment had been imposed in November 2016 by the then Laxmikant Parsekar government for smoother implementation of the VII Pay Commission recommendations to government employees.
