11 days passed: Tension escalates in Dabolim as authorities take no action on water contamination issue

Tension continues to rise in Matve Dabolim as
residents eagerly await concrete action from authorities and the company
involved in the well contamination issue. The residents have raised alarms over
the discovery of fuel traces contaminating water sources in private lands and
paddy fields. The community has demanded immediate resolution to this
distressing contamination, prioritizing the safety and well-being of all
affected individuals and the environment.

Neelam Naik, a local Panch member, expressed
frustration over the lack of immediate action by authorities. She said that no
action has been taken by the authorities as of now. The community is deeply
concerned about the safety of our water sources and the potential risks to our
health and environment.

Mamlatdar Pran Vijay Pandit responded to the
escalating concerns, assuring the community that investigations are underway.
Pandit said that we are awaiting a comprehensive report from authorities, and
if the company is found guilty of this contamination, strict action will be
taken against them.

In a bid to allay fears, the CEO of Zuari Indian
Oil Tanking Company, Shriprasad Nayak, assured the public of the company’s
proactive steps to address the situation. Nayak said that the company has
implemented stringent precautionary measures. We’ve stationed a fire brigade
and ambulance services at the site 24/7. Additionally, we’re committed to
providing clean drinking water to affected residents through water tankers.
