VALPOI: Eleven patients from Sattari have tested positive for dengue fever, said a health official. All the patients are being treated at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Valpoi.
According to a health official they had come to Valpoi hospital complaining of high fever. Of the 11 patients, eight belong to Patval and three are from Dhamshe village.
Valpoi CHC Health officer Dr Gajanan Naik said as once they noticed the cluster of cases in Patval and Dhamshe, the state surveillance was intimated and the team of epidemiology and entomology, along with CHC Valpoi medical officers, visited the affected and surrounding villages and conducted house to house advocacy programme on vector borne disease. He said they conducted house to house cleanliness drives and fogging (smoke) was also done in these villages.
The villages are now closely monitored and testing of fever cases is done at Manipal Virus Research and North Goa District Hospital Mapusa, said the official.
