VASCO: Dabolim airport police confiscated 11 gallons, containing 632 litres of diesel, estimated to cost over Rs 42,000 in a raid on a rickshaw, at Dabolim airport premises, on Thursday evening.
As per the reliable sources, PI Ravi Dessai conducted the raid wherein a rickshaw bearing registration number GA-06-T-4194 carrying the diesel was seized.
The police arrested driver Bharat Navale (39) from Pixem Dongri, Khariwada, Vasco, under Section 285 of Inflammable Petroleum Substance Act and 336 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
It is learnt that the barrels containing diesel were being transported without taking any safety precautions. This diesel is used for the tractors functioning at the airport. Further investigations are in progress under the supervision of Vasco DySP Sunita Sawant.
