South Goa Lok Sabha constituency will witness a multi-cornered contest as a total of 11 candidates, including sitting Congress candidate, Francisco Sardinha, are left in the fray after the last date of withdrawal.
A lone woman Smita Praveen Salunke is in the fray as an Independent.
Candidates of recognized national and state political parties left in the fray are Francisco Sardinha (Cong), Narendra Sawaikar (BJP) Raju Mangueshkar (CPI), Rohidas Borkar (SGF), Matanhy Saldanha (UGDP) and Independent candidates Jawahar Dias, Derick Dias, Francisco Antonio Joao de Philomeno Fernandes, Mulla Salim, Salunke Smita Praveen and Hamza Khan.
Soon after the last date of withdrawals, Returning Officer Mihir Vardhan had a meeting with the candidates and representatives of the political parties and briefed them about the model code of conduct and other election related issues.
