11 independents withdraw in support of Fatorda Forward

MARGAO: Newly-appointed Goa Forward Party Fatorda Block President Peter Fernandes lauded the 11 independent candidates who were contesting across wards in Fatorda for “sacrificing their ambitions in the larger interest of defeating the BJP”. 

At a press conference, Peter said, “We are confident that we are representing the true voice of the people and that the Margao Civic Alliance is moving in the right direction. That’s why these 11 candidates have willingly extended their support to Team Goa in Fatorda.” 

He said, “With their support and good wishes, we are ready to unitedly take on the BJP. This is our time to show the power and potential of Team Goa.”

The Fatorda Block president listed out the 11 candidates: Zahur Sayed, Socorro Fernandes (both Ward No 1), Moidinsaheb Woontwale (Ward 3), Januaria Furtado (Ward 5), Ramchandra Redkar (Ward 6), Rosario Mediera (Ward 7), Joaquim Baretto (Ward 8), Sainath Kuttikar (Ward 9), Saiprasad Naik (Ward 10), Abedin Sheikh (Ward 11) and Sylvester Coutinho (Ward 15). 

Peter thanked the 11 candidates for their support and extended the GFP president’s gratitude for their decision. 

He said, “Your action today has further strengthened the vision and mission of Team Goa, and the people will never forget your sacrifice.” 

Peter said, “Vijai Sardesai’s goal is to unite all of Goa under one team, and one umbrella to defeat the anti-Goenkar BJP. We are proud of our leader’s valiant efforts to unite Goa to save Goa now.” 

On his appointment as the Fatorda Block President, Peter expressed his gratitude to Vijai Sardesai saying, “I am honoured to take up this role, and I thank Vijai and the GFP leadership for entrusting me with this responsibility. The Fatorda Forward panel and its theme of ‘Future Ready Fatorda’ want to usher in development by consent to all citizens of the constituency and ensure that our united progress is achieved democratically.” 

Peter urged all the voters to support and vote the Margao Civic Alliance “to bring forth true democratic development in Fatorda as a standard for all of Goa.”
