MARGAO: Twenty eight candidates filed 30 nominations for the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) elections on Thursday. The finally tally conclude with 115 candidates, who have filed 131 nominations, are in fray across 25 wards of MMC.
On Thursday—the final day of filing nominations—witnessed 3 candidates each filing their nominations in each of two wards under general category. In ward 9 Kundaikar Viddesh Vasant, Kuttikar Sainath and Naik Saiprasad filed their nominations, and in ward 15 Vaz Lincoln Anthony, Coutinho Sylvester Placidus and Coutinho Fabian challenges each other.
Two candidates each filed their nominations in five wards. In ward 4 (OBC women) Vaz Jessy Sandra and Rodrigues Olinda Cardoso while Gomes Royston and Medeira Rosario filed from ward 7 (General).
The two who filed from ward 8 (ST) are Barreto Joaquim and Miranda Salvador Francisco while in ward 22 (OBC) Naik Sunil Krishnanath and Naik Damodar Ramnath filed their nominations and in ward 24 (General) Khan Shiggaon Usman Ahmad and Moratgiker Pritam Devidas submitted their papers.
Ward 1 (General) saw nominations being filed today by Mascarenhas Renzil, Fernandes Sucorro Manuel, Sayyed Zahur and D’Costa Mackenzie Michael.
One candidate each filed nominations in 8 wards. Woontwale Mohidinsaheb filed nomination in ward 3 (General), Furtado Januaria in ward 5 (Women), Redkar Ramchandra in ward 6 (General), Shaikh Abedin in ward 11 (General), Naik Sita Sandip in ward 13, (Women), Jamuni Deepali Damodar in ward 14, (SC Women), Naik Rohan in ward 18 (General) and Cardoso Viviana in ward 23 (ST Women).
