PANJIM: The Porvorim Police on Saturday conducted a tenant verification drive at Haliwada in Penha De Franca and rounded up 12 persons to check if they had any criminal background.
A statement from Porvorim Police said action will be initiated against the owners for not furnishing tenant verification forms to police and the owners have also been summoned for further inquiry.
Last month, the Goa police had launched a special night drive in Mapusa during which it arrested 55 persons under section 41 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
According to North Goa Superintendent of Police (SP), the measure, which is part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order in the community, led to significant enforcement actions and arrests, underscoring the police’s proactive approach to crime prevention and community welfare.
