CANACONA: Officials of Legal Metrology Department inspected the weekly bazaar at Chaudi, Canacona on Saturday and seized over 12 “faulty” weighing machines.
Acting on a complaint by Diogo Da Silva, President of ‘Association of Businessmen of Canacona’, a team from Legal Metrology Office, Canacona comprising of Satish D Gawas and Chaitali C Parwar inspected the Saturday Weekly Bazaar and checked the measuring instruments and weights. During their inspection, they found variations in the balances and the weights used by most vendors. The officials seized over 12 “faulty” weighing scales and the “tampered” weights. The vendors, mostly non-Goans, were using verifiable documents during the inspection. The weighing machines and weights have been seized and the vendors have been directed to visit the office with relevant documents, Gawas informed.
