PANJIM: The Food and Drugs Administration has recalled 1250 kg of Knorr range of noodle products owned by Hindustan Unilever Ltd – 700 kgs from North Goa and 550 kgs from South Goa.
FDA had directed the Hindustan Unilever Ltd to recall their Knorr range of noodle products following instruction by the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India to recall it since they had not obtained prior product approval regarding its safety.
FDA had directed the local stockist and distributors of the company to recall the products from all stores in Goa. FDA visited all malls, super markets, provisions stores, Goa Sahakar Bhandar and other big stores to recall the products.
Speaking to Herald, FDA Director Salim Veljee confirmed that as of now there is no quality issue detected in the product. “So far the product has been recalled only because the company failed to obtain FSSAI product approval. No quality issues have been detected,” he added.
Meanwhile, FSSAI also ordered to recall ‘Restless Energy Drink’ with immediate effect, as it contains an irrational combination of ginseng and caffeine, which can have an effect on the human body.
In an order, FSSAI directed, “to recall the existing products from the market under the intimation to FSSAI as the same has been declared as unsafe.”
