MARGAO: Agreeing that the administration is in dire need of junior scale officers, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar that the 13 candidates recommended by the Goa Public Service Commission (GPSC) would soon be inducted into government service.
Replying to questions on the controversy surrounding selection of junior scale officers, the chief minister said that deputy collectors were last recruited in 2003, since then no candidate has been selected, though the governments tried to do so two or three times.
In 2014, 21 candidates were shortlisted and of whom 13 were selected; the remaining nine have moved the Supreme Court, he said adding, the medical examination and character antecedent checks of the 13 selected candidates have been done.
“The process will be completed in a couple of days and the selected 13 candidates will undergo three months training and subsequently be absorbed,” Parsekar informed.
“There is indeed a need to fill vacancies; and last years. I was practically after GPSC and filled the medical, dental, university and engineering college posts; I have also increased the number of seats in the medical college from 100 to 150; nurses 50 to 100,” the chief minister said.
“We will finish the (construction of South Goa District) hospital by end of this year. By June 2017, we will start the nursing wing in South Goa. I am continuously monitoring the progress of the District Hospital,” he said.
