PANJIM: A spectacular Shigmo float parade organised by Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti held at the State capital city on Saturday received a satisfactory participation of around 16 Shigmotsav groups, 14 floats and 36 fancy dress participants, after a two years long gap of COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant flagged off the parade and congratulated Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti for organising such a big event every year. He also extended his wishes to the people of Panjim on the eve of Shigmotsav.
Many floats depicting mythological significance along with fancy dress competitors depicting the issue of hike in fuel rate became the main attraction.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state President Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Ex-MLA of Panjim Siddharth Kunkolienkar, Mayor of Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) Rohit Monserrate, vice-President of Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti Mangaldas Naik were present on the occasion.
The Shigmo parade that had begun across the State from March 19 will mark its end on March 27 at Mapusa.
