14-hour power blackout in Rachol after heavy rains

MARGAO: The rains on Wednesday caused havoc all over South Goa, with Rachol village being the worst affected. The power supply to Rachol was stopped for 14 hours due to a damaged transformer and was restored after the tireless work of the Electricity Department workers and the fire brigade.
According to information, the transformer in Rachol was damaged at around 3 am during the rains. Fire personnel, after learning of the incident, informed the Electricity Department, who stopped the power supply to the village, following which nearly 200 families were in the dark. Electricity workers and fire personnel together got the transformer replaced and power supply restored after 14 hours.
Meanwhile, in Margao, several areas, including the main roads and newly tarred roads, were flooded with rainwater. The Arlem circle was fully submerged as the drains besides the road couldn’t deal with the water.
