PANJIM: Timely intervention by fire personnel averted a major mishap at a printing machinery spares shop at Mapusa that caught fire on Friday afternoon. There was no casualty reported as it was shut for the lunch break.
The shop – Ultra Mar Agency – suffered a loss of Rs 90,000 even as the department of Fire & Emergency Services estimates that its fire fighters saved property worth Rs 4 lakh.
On receiving a call, “Our personnel rushed to the site and doused the fire. Timely intervention saved a large part of the property and possibility of fire spreading to adjoining places,” an official said.
