15 cms of rain in 24 hours

Goa received an average of 15 cms of rain across the State between Monday and Tuesday mornings with the downpour continuing even on Tuesday throughout the day. As forecast by IMD, most of the towns and villages received very heavy rainfall between Monday and Tuesday.
IMD said that between 8.30am on Monday and 8.30am on Tuesday, Valpoi received the highest rainfall of 24 cms, Sanquelim received 21 cms of rainfall, Pernem and Ela (Old Goa) received 17 cms each, while Panjim and Sanguem received 15 cms each rainfall, Ponda received 14 cms and Quepem received 12 cms of rainfall. While Dabolim recorded 10 cms of rainfall, Canacona and Mormugao recorded 9 cms of rainfall between Monday and Tuesday.
IMD has issued a warning to fishermen not to venture into the sea due to the strong winds with speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph likely to prevail along Goa coast during next four days until Saturday, August 10.
