15 flights cancelled due to low passenger load

VASCO: Fifteen flights were cancelled on Thursday due to low passenger load. The COVID situation in the State is affecting the passenger load on the flights. If the passenger load is low then flights will get cancelled and vice versa, says Dabolim Airport Director.

When contacted Gagan Malik, director of International Airport Dabolim and asked whether there is any effect on the flight movements due to the COVID situation in Goa, Malik replied in the affirmative and said that there has been an effect on the flight movement.

He further said that on Thursday around 15 flights of various airlines were cancelled at the Dabolim Airport.

When asked about the flight movement from Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad etc, Malik stated that “since there are no passengers therefore flights are getting cancelled but aviation is still continues. Flights are getting cancelled due to the factor of passenger load. Otherwise there is no ban from flights to come at the airport as it comes under the essential services.

When questioned whether there have been some changes or effects on the flights from specific areas such as Mumbai, Delhi, etc, the Director said, “It all depends on the sector area, passenger load, the airlines, etc. The day the passenger load is less, on that day the flights won’t fly, but if the passenger load is good after a few days then the flights could resume.”
