PANJIM: The coming academic year will see 15,000 laptops distributed to Class XII students with Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar assuring every benefit to students under various schemes. The government also intends to extend the scholarship scheme to more students attempting to pursue higher education in the State, country or abroad.
“During this year, the government will distribute around 15,000 laptops to the students of XII standard in the State. We are making every effort to elevate the standard of education for which adequate financial provision has been allotted in the budget,” he said at the laptop distribution function organized by Directorate of Education in collaboration with Info-Tech Corporation of Goa Ltd on Wednesday.
Parsekar, who also holds the Education portfolio, said that under the Goa Scholar Scheme the government aims to extend financial assistance to ten more students in addition to 20 as of now.
“Students should realise the purpose of this scheme and avail the benefit. The Cyber Age Scheme has the noble objective to create sound vibrant and advanced generation having knowledge of science and technology.”
Info-Tech Corporation Ltd chairman Subhash Phal Desai seconded this stating that since many innovations take place in the field of science and technology, the younger generation needs to be familiar with it. “Gadgets like laptops are full of knowledge with its apps and functions. Therefore, make proper use of the device and enhance your knowledge,” he told students.
