MAPUSA: Calangute Police arrested 16 persons on New Year’s Eve and recovered 67 stolen mobile phones and a laptop in their possession.
In a major drive by PI Calangute Laxi Amonkar on New Year’s Eve, a total of 16 persons were arrested with 65 mobile phones and a laptop.
The owners of these stolen phones, mostly tourists, are being identified and intimated so that the same can be returned.
The accused belong to separate groups of thieves who took advantage of the huge tourist inflow and committed the thefts.

MARGAO: One suspect by name Sakiludin Shaikh aged 34 years of Kharakuva, Anand, Gujarat has been arrested by Konkan Railway Police under Section 41 of CrPC.
Konkan Railway Police said that he was found in possession of 13 mobile/I-phones. Shaikh is suspected to be involved in mobile thefts in Calangute and Anjuna areas.
Police said after interrogation he will be handed over to the concerned police station in whose jurisdiction he stole the mobiles.
